Fredericton Arts & Learning, Inc is a nonprofit organization that owns and operates the Charlotte Street Arts Centre, facilitates a variety of arts presentations, organizes yearly free arts-based educational outreach programming (ArtReach) and funds the annual Charlotte Glencross Scholarship for Professional Development in the Arts.

The new CSAC website uses Solspace Calendar throughout to promote events and exhibitions - past, present and future - past events are archived yearly. We used Matrix to allow FAL staff to easily create event-specific mini galleries. We created dynamic publication bookshelves using jQuery and phpThumb, and dynamic background images using native EE functionality. We combined the Excerpt plugin with Facebook’s Open Graph to dynamically generate page and entry-specific content descriptions for Facebook sharing. Using a little PHP, we are able to add YouTube videos by pasting a simple share URL to the publish page and allowing the templates to re-size and place the video appropriately. Using EE 2.x’s publish page customization, we were able to intuitively design the publish pages so staff could easily begin maintaining their website with a single training session.

“It was an absolute pleasure working with the CSAC to develop a new online presence that is dynamic, interactive, and creative - words I would also use to describe the centre and it’s people. My team and I are very proud of this project; it was a labour of love for a great cause.” - Mila Jones, Art Director, NewMediaDrive.com
